There were no colored photographs until the 1970s and so we often see black and white pictures of history prior to that time. But the technology today can make anything possible. Right from high-quality colored pictures to even 3D versions of them. Not only this but our technology today also give us our only chance to see what the world really looked in the past. So a photographer and digital artist from Austria, Mario Unger, colorized the historical photos and the result is truly spectacular.
He says "The reason for doing all of this work was to reduce the felt distance in time a little bit. I love B&W photography, but for some images I think, color is needed and most of B&W photography was done for one reason, there just was no color film!"
Seeing these black and white historical pictures colorized makes it easy to imagine the part of a world that we’ve never even seen. It really changes our perspective of history!
